Privateers Drop Two to Maple Leafs

The St. John's Privateers dropped a pair of games to the first place St. John's Maple Leafs over the weekend at the Glacier in Mount Pearl.

MacKenzie Janes provided shutout goaltending, and Dylan MacKenzie and James Locke both had a goal and an assist in the game.

Janes stopped 19 shots getting the shutout, while Jordan Yaremchuk faced 35 shots in the Privateers net.

Saturday night, Locke netted a pair of goals and assisted on another in the Maple Leafs 5-4 win. Kyle McGrath and MacKenzie both had a goal and one helper, and Lucas Osmond also scored.

Adam Nolan and Matt O’Leary had a goal and an assist in a losing cause. Alex Noseworthy and Brad Connors rounded out scoring for the Privateers.

Josh Langmead turned aside 36 shots for the win. Yaremchuk and Joel Abbott, who left the game after the first period, with an injury, shared the netminding duties for the Privateers, facing 35 shots.

The Privateers host the Tri-Pen Osprey this coming weekend. Saturday night at 8:00pm and Sunday morning at 10:00am. Both games are at the Goulds Arena.

Also, Tuesday, December 15, will see a mid-week game between the Privateers and Maple Leafs, and that game will take place 7:30pm in the Goulds.
